Tribute to Adrian Franks

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Adrian Franks, just before Christmas.

On Friday, 16th January 2026, we gathered to pay our final respects at his funeral service and to celebrate his life.

Adrian faced his second battle with bowel cancer with remarkable courage, so soon after overcoming it the first time. This past year was incredibly challenging for Adrian, his wife Emma, his two sons, and his family.

Adrian’s career with Electract began in the summer of 1990, when he joined the company as an apprentice. Adrian quickly showed his aptitude and dedication and passed his apprenticeship four years later soon followed by becoming an Approved Electrician .

In 1999, Adrian moved into the office as a Property Services and Testing Engineer, where he quickly demonstrated a natural talent for managing more complex responsibilities. As his scope expanded, so did his influence. He progressed into overseeing larger projects, then into project management, and in 2022 he took on the role of Contracts Manager for the Commercial and Industrial Department—an achievement that reflected both his capability and the trust he had earned across the company.

Adrian became a shareholder in 2013, marking a milestone not just in his career, but in his contribution to Electract’s growth and success. His leadership, his work ethic, and his commitment to maintaining the highest standards made a meaningful and lasting impact on the business.

But beyond his professional accomplishments, it was Adrian’s character that truly set him apart. He built strong relationships, led by example, and consistently carried himself with professionalism, kindness, and a smile. He earned the respect of his colleagues not just for what he did, but for how he did it and it was a privilege to work alongside him.

Adrian was always thinking, always looking for better ways of working, and he had a great sense of humour—often lightening the mood with practical jokes. Many of us will cherish those memories.

The messages we have received from clients, site managers, and colleagues over the past weeks reflect the high regard in which Adrian was held. He was always willing to help others and had a charm and smile that could ease any situation.

We hope Adrian has found a big motorbike somewhere up there and is enjoying the ride.

On behalf of the company, we extend our deepest condolences to Emma, their two sons, and the entire family.
